Most of us know that when designing a space it's next to impossible to have it all. When doing any type of design project there are always many variables to consider. Other than the basic design elements there are space limitations, building codes, or just plain budget considerations. But, that's what makes it fun, right?
Which piece of a design do you consider to be the most important? You know, the aspect of the design that you just couldn't do without? The main factor that you feel makes the space? So important that you make sure the space incorporates it?

What do you consider to be a room design non negotiable?

I would have said the rug, especially in that photo, but it wasn't there so i went with furniture :)

I am saying designer fabrics because I think that's the one thing that makes or breaks a room's uniqueness and gives it a look that is not "right off the shelf." Obviously furniture and comfort are hugely important and need to be considered first, so designer fabrics are just the icing on the design cake!
