After a paint project, ever wonder what to do with all of those paint samples? I end up having too many of them to count. And they're not cheap. If there was such a thing as paint sample stock, trust me I'd be buying it.
My latest project was inspired by all of the beautiful abstract landscape art I've been seeing. Not living far from the ocean, I wanted to paint a piece that had the feel of being at the beach.
These are only a few of the paint samples from my collection. Before I began, I chose a few colors I felt would work well.

Along with my paint samples, I gathered a canvas and some paint brushes.
First, I gave the canvas a coat of my base color.
And then I began to add color. I wet my brush in water to blend the edges between colors.
I blended and added layers until I achieved the look I wanted.
I'm planning on displaying this in my newly painted bathroom. What do you do with your paint samples?

Jean! Your art is beautiful! When I saw the first picture I thought it was your inspiration, but no, you painted that!?!! The colors are so pretty and soothing. Great idea for paint samples.
ReplyDeleteGirl, this is just perfect! I love it! I am so happy I tried painting, I really love it! You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful painting!!! I love it. I agree with the first post I thought it was your inspiration! You need to paint more!
ReplyDeleteWish I had the courage to try what you've done but I'm not sure I can pull it off! I use my old paint samples to paint furniture for my booth. - It's fun to mix them and create your own colors, too! Hope you can stop by my blog and give me your opinion!

Looks amazing Jean. I'm thinking of doing this over a couple canvases I have that I've grown tired of. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteWow! This turned out so amazing. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI always have a ton of paint samples around the house. So far, they tend to do just that: hang around the house! Last year, I did manage to sell a few of them at a yard sale and make a little bit of money back.
You clever girl! Jean this turned out so good. I'm so inspired to go dig out my 500 samples and try to make something out of them. Bravo, I'm so impressed! xo
ReplyDeleteWow Jean this is really impressive! You should consider making more and selling them. Me being your first buyer :)
ReplyDeleteWow this is gorgeous! What a smart use for paint samples. I always end up buying new acrylics when I want to paint something, but this is SO much smarter, and it turned out amazing!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! I promise, whatever I use my paint samples for, it won't look nearly this artistic.:)
