As I work on my own bookshelf I thought I'd share some examples of good styling from my Styling and Display Inspiration Board on Pinterest. Many of the photos show basic styling principles that could easily be incorporated into your own home.
Here are some basic tips for creating a well styled bookshelf...
Vary heights. Books are used as risers, footed bowls add height, and accessories of different sizes are chosen.

Group by color. These book are stacked and arranged based on the color of their beautiful covers.

A color scheme. This shelf incorporates white, blue and green accessories that create a sense of unity.

Vary textures. Accessories with different textures create interest.

Layering. Prop framed art against the back of shelves and layer them with other frames and accessories.

Alternate stacking books horizontally and vertically.

Reflect your personality. Choose ceramics, sculpture, decorative boxes, original artwork, and family photos to reflect your personal tastes and style.

A well styled space is an art form.
Do you have any bookshelf styling tips?

ReplyDeleteLove this! My favourite styling is to layer pictures in frames on the bookshelf! But lately my bookshelves are so blah! Wanting to paint them and re-style but the weather needs to warm up first!
ReplyDeletePerfect timing! Mine are on my list, sadly I haven't re-styled after the holidays. It takes me forever, thanks for the inspiration!
