Well, things have settled down a little around here. My husband I've come to terms with the fact that it may be a little while before I have my computer again. The techie people have quoted insane amounts of money to rid my computer of the virus...to the point that it is probably smarter to just buy a new computer. My marriage is managing to stay intact because the hubs has succumbed has generously been sharing his laptop.
On a brighter note, I have found that the majority of my "before" pictures are still stored in my camera! That made me feel a whole lot better. See honey, procrastination does payoff! My husband asked me a hundred times to clear the photos and I ignored him never got around to it. I love being right. I may have even mentioned it to him a couple of times over the weekend. You know...I hate to say I told you so. :)
I've actually managed to get a few things accomplished around here with all of this newly found free time. (I am going through serious Pinterest withdrawals and the only way to get through it is to keep myself busy.)
(I apologize in advance for the crappy iphone pictures.)
1. The new Horchow mirror is hung in the dining room above my sideboard. Love this thing!
2. Since the living room and dining room have been repainted, the powder room on my main floor was screaming for some freshening up. (It's a vicious cycle!) It's a project that has been in the back of my mind on the "to do" list. So with all of the free time I now had I gave my powder room a quick thought and a quick coat of ceiling paint. In an effort to stay on budget (honey, are you reading this?) I used paint that I had around the house. Took some Benjamin Moore White paint in a flat finish and custom mixed a pretty blue-green using some paint samples I had on hand.
Now, by custom mixed I mean I threw together some paint I thought would look pretty in a plastic cup and mixed it with a plastic knife. I kept adding paint until I liked what I had. Obviously, very precise ratios and measurements were used. (Can you hear the sarcasm?) Like a witches brew. Eye of newt and toe of frog.
Hocus-Pocus...

Ever wonder what to do with those old paint samples? Well, there you have it. Anyone else have 3 million of them? It was a small enough space that I didn't need a whole lot of paint. I just made sure to mix enough to have left over for touch ups in the future.
The verdict is still out on whether the color will stay or not because I don't have a solidified design plan just yet. But, it was a valiant effort and it certainly kept me a little busy. What I do know is I want to do something a little more bold in the space. Suggestions welcome!
See that terrible light fixture/fan thing? How could you miss it? Practical, but definitely not attractive. Definitely on the to do list.
3. I also started to spackle the walls and prep for paint.
4. And finally, this may be the most exciting part of my weekend...
wait for it....
you know you can't wait to find out what it is...
I cleaned the house! Top to bottom! Spic-and-span! Cue the cheers, clapping and falling confetti! Amazing what too much free time without a computer will do. Plays serious tricks on your mind and makes you do crazy things. Jedi mind tricks I say.
Happy Halloween!
XOXO,
