New Couch Search Update

The new couch search is not going as easily as planned.  In my original post I found several nice options for sectionals with chaises for my living room redesign.  I considered style, size, durability, comfort and price.  Unfortunately, each couch option is missing one or more of those key components.

Much to my husbands dismay, I've already sold the old sectional.  For the time being we are using an old fouton.  Not the most attractive or comfortable of options.

So, the search continues in the hopes that the perfect couch will appear...

Here is the newest contender from Restoration Hardware.

I love the classic style, the size, the durable and scotchguarded fabric options, and with the down filled pillows it appears to be extremely comfortable!  Sounds great right?  The only problem?  Price.  Yikes!  Of course it is also the most expensive of all of the couches I've considered.

What would you do?  Would you compromise on style, size, durability, comfort or price?  Which are most the important factors to consider and why?

Million Dollar Decorators

I will admit...I am a reality TV junky.  Bravo's Real Housewives series and Flipping Out have been long time favorites, but Million Dollar Decorators has quickly taken the lead.  It follows five top LA designers and incorporates all of the things that I love...stylish characters, drama, and interior design.

The show gives a behind the scenes look into the lives of Martyn Lawrence Bullard,  Kathryn Ireland, Jeffrey Alan Marks, Mary McDonald, and Nathan Turner.  I'm loving everything from the design process to client relationships to huge budgets...and egos.  I still haven't decided which cast member is my favorite.  It's a tough decision, but I'll leave it at this...they are incredibly talented designers with incredibly large personalities.  I will continue to tune in each week.

Who's your favorite designer from Million Dollar Decorators

Million Dollar Decorators airs Tuesdays at 10/9 C.

{Paint} Boys Room Paint Choice

We've recently transitioned from our LITTLE sweet nursery to our BIG boy room.  My little boy is growing up...and fast...sniff sniff.

Ever since the big transition, I've been on the hunt for a rich dark wall color that would provide a nice backdrop for art and would be in contrast to the white of the trim and wainscoating.

A big change from the pale yellow walls of his nursery.

This picture was the inspiration for the paint color choice in my son's big boy room redesign.

The color is Benjamin Moore Newburyport Blue HC-155.

A new look definitely suited to a BIG boy.

Kitchen Update and a Plan

Ever get the itch?

It starts as a casual thought about a new accessory you see in the latest catalogue, which leads to the search for a beautiful new fabric for a window treatment, and then a new paint color...

You know how the rest goes...before long you're in an all out redesign.

Here are my current kitchen redesign ideas...

I'm so excited to get started!  The update will include painting the cabinets, window treatments, hardware, lighting, and accessories.

This design board will act as my inspiration for my latest redesign...at least until the latest catalogue comes in the mail.  :)
